Making your plan to vote
The 2026 General Election is Tuesday, November 3. Make a plan to vote so you don’t miss your opportunity to participate in electing leaders who will defend democracy and represent constituents at the federal, state, and local level.
Key Dates:
October 5: Voter registration deadline
October 6: First day of in-person early voting
October 22: Deadline for the county election board to receive an application for an absentee ballot by mail
November 3: Election Day — polls are open 6 a.m.–6 p.m. local time
Early Voting:
You don't have to wait until Election Day to cast your ballot! We encourage you to vote early if you can. Early voting gives you more flexibility, avoids Election Day lines and makes it easier to make sure your vote is cast before November 3.
Indiana's early voting period begins Tuesday, October 6. You do not need to apply or give a reason to vote early in person. Just go to an early voting location in your county with a valid government-issued photo ID.

When will I vote, early or on Election Day?
Where will I vote, in-person or absentee? If in person, find a polling place.
Do I need to vote by mail? If so, request your ballot as soon as possible.
